Court says VimpelCom can face fine for LGBT content
MOSCOW, Jun 30 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has drawn an administrative offense report against mobile operator VimpelCom, working under the Beeline brand, for demonstration of LGBT themes, a representative of Moscow’s Savyolovsky District Court told PRIME late on Thursday.
“The court received a report regarding VimpelCom,” the representative said.
The report regards distribution of information demonstrating non-traditional sexual relations via the Internet among the under-age, and the company can face a fine up to 4 million rubles or suspension of work for 90 days. Hearing will be held on July 13.
A VimpelCom spokesperson told PRIME that the complaint was about the content placed on service Beeline TV.
“We will be dealing with the situation, studying the claims, and preparing a response to the regulator,” the spokesperson said.
